In this section we present an overview of the activities realized within the project in its various phases. The research and analytical tasks of the project are divided into three main consequent phases, in which distinct research topics are dealt with. In the first phase (in 2006 and 2007), we focused on the identification of selected characteristics of labour demand as well as on the supply of foreign labour force, including its size and structure. During this phase we conducted mainly quantitative analysis. In the second phase (2008), we paid our attention to the strategies used by immigrants in order to access the labour market and integrate into Czech society. We have conducted and analyzed over 250 qualitative interviews with immigrants that have been living in the Czech Republic for a minimum of one year. In the final phase (2009 and 2010), we are simultaneously working out several research studies focused on an assessment of working conditions of immigrant laborers, analysis of social work with immigrants, evaluation of national integration policies, identification of institutional barriers faced by immigrants in the process of social integration, etc. As a part of this phase, two thematic academic conferences will be organized.
